Personal Statement

I really want to be a college athlete. My first year of throwing was last year (2011-2012 season) after being begged by my High School track coach. I was only able to start the varsity track season after the halfway point, due to regional state varsity basketball participation. Also this is the reason that l only got the chance to throw shot put. But I did very well for it being my first year . I placed the Greater Miami Conference meet, and ended up with 7th place in the OHSAA Division I Regional track meet with my PR of 37' 9 1/2". I also received ALL GMC Honorable Mention, and received the Most Outstanding Field Athlete at my end of year track banquet. I really enjoyed it, and even though I play varsity basketball as well, (on a state ranked team), I like the fact that track is an individual sport. By my senior year I hope to maybe even win state. I am looking forward to practicing all summer with my throwing coach and have been participating in Olympic Weight-lifting two times a week as well, in in order to become stronger and achieve the goals I have set for myself.

This past year (2012-2013 season) I achieved most the goals I set for myself last year. Even though I only got the chance to throw shot put last year I was determined to learn and improve in discus. I did pretty well during the regular season. I improved from my PR of 37' 9.5" to a new PR of 40' 8.5". Along with improving my PR in shot I also went from not throwing discus at all to having a PR of 112' 5".  These PR's  helped me to place first place in shot at the Greater Miami Conference (GMC) meet and second place in discus. I was then nominated GMC Field Athlete of the year by a unanimous vote. I then moved on to the District meet where I placed second in shot, and fourth in discus allowing me to go to the Regional Meet in shot put and discus. At the Regional meet I placed 13th in Discus, and 6th in shot put. At my end of year banquet I received Most Outstanding Field Athlete after scoring the third most points for my team at 98 points. I also received GMC First team all conference in shot and GMC Honorable Mention in discus. I really hope to make it to the State track meet next year. I  also decided that I wanted to start learning to throw hammer. I threw it in one meet where I threw an 80' stand throw and I am spending all summer learning all the footwork. I just recently when to the Ashland Track and Field Camp and I am leaving July 1st for The Ohio State University Track and Field camp where I hope to improve my glide.

This year (2013-2014 Season), I made it to Indoor State in shot put after only being out of basketball for a week, and only practicing one time before going to the UK meet. I placed 9th in the shot put at Indoor State.

I have had continued success in the (2013-2014 Season) winning many meets and Including leading my team to another Greater Miami Conference Championship. I placed First Team All-GMC in the Shot and the Discus. I was further honored to received my 2nd GMC Field Athlete of the Year Award.
