Ever since I was 5 years old I have had a passion for running. Since my dad was a runner all throughout his high school life, I always knew I wanted to follow in his footsteps. I was taught from a very early age that if you wanted something, you need to work hard for it. I have applied that very lesson to every race I have ever ran. I am always looking for my next challenge. I am never satisfied with just one goal. I will set multiple goals for myself in a single season.
Since I have started running track in high school, I have had many great achievements. I currently hold 2 schools records in my high school, the anchor leg of the 4x800 relay and the anchor leg of the 4x400 meter relay. I have also qualified for the state qualifier meet in many different events all 3 of my past years in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Last winter season, my 4x200 team and I placed 3rd in all of Suffolk County. As a captain on my high school track team, I understand and accept the pressures that come with being on a track team. I have the younger people looking up to me to show them ways to be successful. I take my role as captain very seriously and like to help the younger athletes on my team to learn from my success and as well as from the mistakes I’ve made.
I am the kind of person that if I feel that I am about to lose something, I will work as hard as I possibly can and do everything in my power to make sure that doesn’t happen. I love the moments when I am pushed to my limits, because than I know what I am truly capable of.
While I am on a college track team, I plan on making the most out of every opportunity I am given. I know that certain opportunities do not happen more than once and I want to make the most of my entire experience on the team.
I know that college track something that I want to do because I have never been able to look forward into my college life without having track in it. Track and Field is a part of me, and without it I feel incomplete.
