The nights before my track meets, I always dream of how I envision my race going. The bus ride to Icon Stadium in Rhode Island was long, but I was pumped. The 100m dash was mine. I felt it. I dreamt it. The official tells us to get to the line to start the race. With a good stretch from back to front I get into my start position. With one final look down my lane I put my head down and wait to hear the official say �??set�??. On the sat command I raise my lower body up and lean forward far enough to where I feel I might fall. I stare straight down at my track shoes and say a quick pray to myself. The official shoots the start gun and I explode out as if am a bullet in a gun. The dream feels so real; I can hear the crowd and my teammates, I feel the wind pushing against me as I cut through it, I feel my muscles tighten and lungs get heavy. I can see a stop clock in my head with my time on it. Am so close to making a personal best I can see it. Am almost there, the finish line, so close am only a few feet from it now. �??Faster, faster, faster�??, I chant repeatly in my head. 5 feet, 4 feet, 3 feet, 2 feet, 1 foot. Only the final foot I dip my head so that I can make it across the line before my oppent and to beat the clock. I slow down to catch my breath; muscles loosen up, and sweat starts to run down my face. I walk back down my lane feeling tried but good. The official takes my card and writes my time on it but doesn�??t tell me it. I walk off the track, get my things, and head over to my coach. He looks at me strongly for a moment than tells me I did well. Without another word he hands me the book he writes our times down in. I look down the list of names and there it was; my name, my time, my personal best. At that exact moment I woke up with a smile across my face and a heart filled with excitement. I wish all my dreams could become reality: world peace, environmental justices, end of poverty, one day making it to the Olympics, becoming successful in my profession, changing the world with a new piece of technology, the list goes on and on. I know if I keep my dreams in my heart and never stop dreaming, there's nothing that I can't make into reality. My dreams can and will come true.
