My name is Alexa Goldman and I will be a senior at Massapequa High School. At Massapequa, I compete in cross country and track and field. During my freshman year, I joined the winter track and field season. I threw shot put and ran the 55m hurdles, which carried on into spring season. At the end of spring my coach asked me to join cross country. I was hesitant to join but afterwards I realized that this was my favorite season, although I wasn't the strongest runner. My first season of cross country 5k pr was 23:04.2. During my sophomore year, I began running the 400m and the 600m indoors. My coach decided that during the spring season I would run the 400m hurdles. My pr for the 400m hurdles was 70.2 which led me to compete in the USATF National Junior Olympics. During the fall season of my junior year I ran cross country. Although my teams season was cut sort because of hurricane Sandy, we competed in the Nike Cross Regional Nationals- New York. My second season of cross country 5k pr was 21:32. During the winter season, I ran my first 800m and 1000m. I ran my fastest 800m in 2:28.3 and my fastest 1000m in 3:19. I received All-Long Island honors for my teams 4x800 in the winter. Unfortunately during my spring season I was forced to sit out due to a broken foot. At the end of my spring season I slowly came back into competition. I ran in two meets, running a leg in a 4x800. Currently, I have a rigorous cross country summer training schedule to get me ready for what I hope to be a great cross country season. Over the past three years I have realized my passion, talent, and strong desire to continue competing at the collegiate level. I am extremely dedicated to my running and to my grades. I am not the type of person who enjoys sitting on the side likes, therefore, I would like a track program that allows me to excel with my running and contribute to the team. I am a team player who will do anything it takes to help lead my team to victory. My ideal college will provide me with a valuable education. In addition, a coaching staff and team that will help push me to reach the next levels of running.
- This up coming year of cross country and track I hope to accomplish many of my goals such as, running under 20:45 during cross country, running 2:22 in the 800m, running 3:05 in the 1000m and breaking 70 seconds in the 400m hurdles which I was unable to do this season because of my broken foot. I also hope to move up in distance, I would love to try the 1500m and the mile. I am looking forward being one of the captains on my team for my remaining three seasons.
