If you ask me what makes a great athlete, i would not point to the person with the best record or furthest distance. A great athlete is one who pushes themselves and those around them to achieve further than what they believe they can reach. One who does not push others down to bring themselves up, but rather someone who takes advantage of the tougher competition to prove themselves worthy of the oppurtinity they had been given to compete. I aspire to be a great athlete. Yes, i would be lying if i said i didn't want to be the best, but i feel that also means being a leader on the field and being part of a team in which you interact to help your peers succeed. I, Rachel Richenberg, feel that i am a leader not only on my current track team, but also in my school. I have been selected to lead my school in the pledge every morning for my senior year, and feel i set a good example for my peers to follow as we finish out our high school days. Academically my junior year GPA converted to a 4.0 leaving my overall high school GPA so far in three years to be a 3.8. I have taken multiple International Baccalaureate classes in both history and science and am also a representative for Student Government and a member of National Honor Society. Athletically i was on varsity track as a freshman and got to attend many invitations with upper classman whom reminded me that although you're often alone in your event, you're part of not only a team, but a family.
