Tameka Bryce '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is Tameka Bryce.  I am 5' 7 inches tall and weigh 125 pounds.  I am currently a senior at Catherine McAuley High School in Brooklyn, New York.  I started out in track and field and on the varsity team in my freshman year.  My intention was to join the basketball team but the track coach saw me in the hallway and asked me to try out for the track team, the rest is history.  Though training was difficult it was not until my first track meet that I fell in love with the sport.  I have been competing ever since, including competing with a club team during the summer where I made it one year to Regional's.

Some qualities I can bring to a team are my strong leadership abilities, sportsmanship, and team spirit.  I have functioned in a leadership capacity on the team since Sophmore year, where I was the co-captain for my Sophmore and Junior years.  And I am currently the Captain.  I am also the Senior Class President residing on the Executive Board of my High School.  I believe that being a strong leader is to lead by example.  I am always encouraging and challenging my teammates to work hard and to stay committed.

My preference would be to attend school outside of New York State but not too far from home since I am an only child, I would like to get home quickly, in the event of an emergency.   I would like to keep my options open regarding the school size; however, my preference would be to attend a small school.  I have always attended small schools and would not want to feel overwhelmed by a large school.  I have not narrowed what my major would be but I am certain it will something in the field of Law and Government.

My athletic goal for this season is to improve on my times and I know I can do it.  I am willing and ready to do the work and I know I will succeed.  Given the opportunity I know I will be an asset to any team.
