I have many goals and aspirations which I pursue. However, my first and foremost goal at the moment is to continue challenging myself in the classroom, on the field, and working to improve my weaknesses in both settings everyday. In comparison, my collegiate goals and aspirations are quite similar. Both of my parents were civil service workers; my mother is a retired NYC correction officer and my father transferred from the NYPD to become a now retired NYC firefighter. Starting with little to nothing, they worked hard all their lives to become the successful individuals they are today. For that, they have become inspirational figures to me for the hardworking, determined personalities they possess. Science has always been my favorite subject, so I aspire to pursue a career that satisfies this passion. My ideal career would be to work as a medical examiner in the forensic field in order to fulfill my curiosity in the subject and bring justice to the public as my parents once did. In order to do so, I plan on completing four years of undergraduate course study in a natural science or field such as pathology, earning a Doctor of Medicine degree at graduate level, and then completing a four year residency of clinical study. At the same time, I'd like to compete in track and field, another passion of mine. I have participated on a team since the second grade. At first, it was merely for fun, but then it became important to me; track became something I lived and breathed and couldn't be without. I made so many friends, bonded with the girls, and slowly started to become a leadership figure. In reality, the team became my second family. As a freshman and sophomore, I was invited to run at the Yale Track & Field Classic as well as the Penn Relays. My relay team qualified for the 2015 Millrose Games, where we obtained our high school record for the 4x400 with a time of 4:01.39. We are the only individuals in our school's history to qualify for the meet. Our performance at the Millrose Games qualified us for the 2015 New Balance Indoor Nationals, held at the Armory Track & Field Center in Manhattan. I am currently training and working to beat my school's record of 63.2 in the 400m hurdles. Additionally, I was privileged enough to meet two-time Olympic athlete, Sharrieffa Barksdale. She gave me inspiration and hope to one day compete at a collegiate level, which I understand will only be possible through consistent determination and perseverance. I understand the hard work, time, and commitment that achieving my goals will entail but I am ready and willing to accept the challenge. I hope to prove my potential to college coaches through my character, grades, improvement, and performance on the field within my last years of high school.
