Hi, My name is Jezri Rinehart. I am a current senior attending Oscar A. Carlson High School. I have two brothers who are 12 and 13 and loving folks who are very supportive. I love to travel and see new places. Sports have been a big portion of my life, along with working with horses, being with family, and being a witness for God. I play volleyball, basketball, and run track. I love track and competing. I try to pursue my dreams and goals by working hard and staying dedicated.
As a three sport varsity athlete, I understand that not everyone may have the same goals or desires as I do. I have learned that no matter how different you may be from your teammates you need to support and encourage them. I do that every time I step out onto the court, track, or into the throwing ring. I am also willing to put in the extra time no matter what it takes. In my current career, I am a thrower and a hurdler. I attend the hour/ hour and a half practice everyone goes to working out with the sprinters. Then after that practice, I stay with my throws coach and practice throws. I understand that if you wish to be good, possibly great, at an event in track, you must put in the time and dedication. It does not just happen overnight.
As an individual, I try to stay positive, hardworking, dedicated, honest, respectful, and responsible. I know that I may not always understand why I'm being told to do something by my coach, but I'll always try my best at what they are teaching me, even if it's brand new. I am the kind of person who will try and help my teammate when I see them getting frustrated or having a bad day. I may try to make them smile or just say, "c'mon you got this, I know you can do it". Sports are not just about competing and succeeding. They are also about teamwork and being there for one another.
For academics, I work hard being sure to study every night at least 30 minutes above the time it takes to do my homework. It gets hard as I do three sports, but I make sure I have time. Academics are very important to me. I wish to be a Veterinarian. I understand it is a hard degree to obtain, but I am willing to put in the time and all the effort needed to succeed. I have known I wanted to be a Veterinarian since I was about 7 years old. I love caring and helping animals, but I also like helping the owners. I know being an owner has to be rough sometimes, and I sympathize with them. It's hard when you get bad news, but it is also exciting when the news is good. Pursuing this field means I must not only be good at my job but also have the social skills needed. I honestly believe "I can".
I would be a good addition to any team as I am hardworking, and I wish to help the team succeed. I like believing that the track team is like a big family. Sure, we may not always get along or see each other eye to eye but at the end of the day we care. We care about one another and the job we have to do: compete and try our hardest giving it 110%. This is what I am looking for in a college. A place that I can call my home away from home where I can gain a second family and relationships that will last a lifetime. Although this is important to me, I also wish to compete at the highest level I can setting new goals for myself every time I reach a new one. I placed 7th in the state (2014) in discus and this year I want to get 1st. It is a long road ahead for everything, but I'm willing and ready. I say,"Bring on the challenges, for there is nothing I can't do with dedication, hard work, and the Lord at my right hand".
