My name is Miranda Geisler. I am currently a senior at New Buffalo High School in Michigan. Academically I try really hard and I give everything I do 100% full out effort. My favorite subject throughout school has always been math and that is one of the many reasons that I want to major in Accounting.
As an athlete, I played all kinds of sports until my junior year, where I started narrowing down to only a couple so that I could focus on them more. The sports I’ve participated in the last two years are Volleyball, as a setter, and Track & Field, as a sprinter & vaulter. Pole vault is the main event that I want to go to college for.
Pole vault for me has been the most exhilarating thing I have done. It also has changed my life incredibly and shown me so much about myself. We got a coach for pole vault but she was only there for a couple weeks then she moved away. Her mantra and the words I still vault by are “go big or go home.” After that we never got another coach. I found out that I had to teach myself what to do within pole vault. The first year teaching myself was stressful and hard to do but I pushed through it. I started off junior year by not passing very many heights and worrying that I wouldn't be able to make it anywhere in pole vault. Then near the end of the season I started winning events and that made me push myself even harder. State was the most memorable day of my life because it was a life-changing moment. The day of state it was gross and rainy but I was determined to do my best. Even though I did not place at state I feel that I did my best and did well throughout the event due to the conditions. I also knew that moment that I would push myself harder to be there next year and earn a spot on the podium.
All that being said I always push myself to do my best. I don't think it would be easy for me to imagine my life without pole vault. I think that you could really enjoy having me as a asset on your team, along with me enjoying being part of it. No matter where I go or what I do I will always be a hard worker.
