Hi, my name is Mattie and I first want to thank you so much for taking the time to read this and so many other athletes stories! It is because of you that so many young people can get that much closer to their dreams. I have been involved with track for six years now, and seem to enjoy it more and more every year. Over that time, track has grown into something more than just a "seasonal sport"; it has become my hobby and passion. I have learned that a true athlete will never be satisfied with doing "okay" but will always strive to be better. With that being said, I can not even fathom ending my track career after my senior year. Having the ability to run at a college level, competing with superb runners and being trained by only the best coaches, is my ultimate dream. But in the meantime I do have several other goals that I wish to accomplish first. There is always room for improvement, always technique to correct and always time to shave off. My primary races are the 800m and 400m. My goal for this year is to beat our current school record in the open 400m . This of course is going to require my best effort, with the record to beat being 58 seconds. I am also working towards the 800m record, which is presently at 2:20. As important as these goals are, I am also hoping to make some other differences. With a large freshmen class joining our high school this year, there will be many new athletes on our team. I hope to recruit as many kids as I can and be the best example to them that I can possibly be, whether out on the track or in the halls of school. I want to become closer with these new athletes and hopefully by my example, spark their interest in the sport and grow with a determined passion just as I have. Once again, I can not thank you enough for reading my story and helping me my in my recruiting process. I hope I have given you a sincere and understandable glimpse of my dreams and goals for my track career!
