Hello, my name is Amaya Booker. I am 17years old and a Senior at Junction City High School (Junction City, Kansas). I currently run varsity track for Junction City and indoor/outdoor track for Track and Field United (a club team associated with both AAU and USATF). I began my athletic career at the age of 5years playing basketball, t-ball and soccer. My track career began at the age of 9 years. Sports has been my inspiration from a young age to excell not only physically, but mentally in my academics.
I started my running career as a long distance runner. Running the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m. Setting records in middle school and qualifying for the AAU Jr Olympics several times. It was in high school that my coach gave me the opportunity to run on the relay team (400x100) and here is when I discovered that I enjoyed sprinting. Currently I run the 100m, 200m, 400m, and 400x100m in high school. I have qualified for the High School Kansas State Track meet in the 400m and 400x100m. Placing third in state in the 400x100m.
The drive and passion that I have for running has allowed me to achieve things I didn't realize I was capable of. I plan to consider colleges that are a good match for me athletically and academically. I am passionate about running and will devote 100 percent effort towards both my athletic and academic career.
Thankyou for taking the time to get to know me.
Amaya
