Hello, my name is Megan Holland I am a junior and I go to Crosby High School in Waterbury Connecticut. I am a member of the Cross Country Team and a Member of their indoor and outdoor Track Teams. I am looking forward to continuing my running career with the college that I will choose to attend in the fall of 2017.
I have been running Cross Country since the 6th grade and Track since I was a freshman in high school. Our middle school did not have a Track team so this is why I was not involved in Track until my high school years. I enjoy running Cross Country and Track very much and enjoy being part of a team. I feel that it is important to be an integral part of the team and by working with my team mates and the coaching staff, I will become a better runner.
My main focus is distance running. I like being able to pace myself and work on my stride during the race. This gives me the time needed to work my way to the front for the final push to the finish. I know that I am not geared to be a sprinter, but if this is what is needed by my team at any given time during a competition then I will do my best to compete and drive myself to finish to the best of my ability. I know that every team member is an important part of the team, and if someone should not be able to perform, then another team member needs to step up and take their place, for the team.
In my academics I have an A to A- average. I am enrolled in Honors classes and Advance placement classes in my school as well as the Talented and Gifted program where we do college oriented projects but do not get a credit for it. I know that working hard on my academics is a necessity in college and I want to be ready for that challenge. At this time I am unsure what I want my major to be, but I am interested in a couple of fields of study. One is in the educational field and the second in the forensic science field, but I have not narrowed it down as of yet.
I hope that this letter give you a little insight of who I am. It is a little difficult talking about yourself and not knowing what to say. I just know that I love the sport of running and to become part of a Cross Country and Track team during my time in college would be that I hope my future holds. I look forward to being part of a team and also from learning from the coaching staff. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Megan Holland
