Hi my name is Grace Gothers. I am currently a junior at East Catholic High School in Manchester, Connecticut. I am so glad to be beginning the college search process! I am looking forward to the challenges of being a student- athlete at the college level.
I run varsity cross-country, indoor and outdoor track. I have run all 3 seasons for my entire sigh school career. In my freshman year of 2009- 2010 cross-country I placed second in the class SS state meet, earning both all-conference and all- state honors. In the indoor season I placed third in the class S state meet in the 1600, earning all-conference. During outdoor I placed fifth running the 1600 in class S. I earned all- academic honors that season. In my sophomore year of 2010- 2011 cross-country season I places second in the class SS state meet. I earned all- conference and all- state honors that season. In indoor I placed second running the 1600 in the class S state meet, earning all- conference. In the outdoor season I placed eighth running the 1600 in the class M state meet. In my junior year I have only run in the cross- country state SS meet. I placed second, and received both all- conference and all-state honors. This indoor season I placed 6th in states then advanced on to the open and New England races. In New Englands I placed 16th.
I have a desire to run in distance races, achieving getting in the 19:40- 50 range for cross country, a 5:14 one mile, and am working to improve my 11:28 two mile time. Last year my mile time broke a 20-year-old school record.
I am very goal oriented. My goals this year include running in the sub 5:10 range, lowering my two-mile time, and advancing to New England’s in cross-country. I put in countless miles during the summer, my off seasons, and weekends.
As of right now, I am open to many possibilities for choice in colleges. I am uncertain of a major I would like to pursue, but am working towards figuring that out as well. I do look forward to visiting some colleges in the upcoming year to help form an opinion of where I’d like to go.
I look forward to hearing from you, and possibly running with your school in the future!
