My name is Rachel Craft and I am a track and field athlete who specializes in Pole Vault. I am currently a Junior at Thousand Oaks High School in California. I started off as a competitive gymnast reaching level 10, but transitioned my freshman year to Pole Vaulting. I broke the OIA Championship record as a freshman in Hawaii at 11’2’’ as well as achieving third place in the Hawaiian State Championship. My current personal record is 12’, which I accomplished at the 2015 Arcadia Invitational. I have been awarded 1st team All-League two years in a row (2014/15) as well as Ventura County champion for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. I hold the Thousand Oaks Varsity school record as well as the stadium record. I am a member of 1st team All County and have been named Field Events MVP two years in a row.
I have always been a person who will put the time in to improve my skills so that I can take it to the next level. I take my off-season training seriously in order to grow stronger and faster, so that I can jump higher during season. I am an athlete that works closely with my coach and teammates and willing to give 100% to everything asked of me. I see myself as a leader on and off the field, and believe that my character as a person is the top priority of who I am.
I push myself hard in the classroom and give my best to achieve good grades in the multiple AP classes that I’m taking. Outside of school, I am a Certified Respite Care Provider for an Autistic child. I also have served as a youth camp counselor and a junior level gymnastic coach. My goal is to attend a college where I will be challenged in the classroom as well as on the field. I want to be in an environment where my talent can be developed to take me to the next level of competition, contribute to a winning team and achieve the degree that will be the foundation for my future.
