Hi, I'm Hayley. I'm a senior at Scotts Valley High and I'm looking forward to running cross country and track in college. Although my main event in track has been the 400m, I am also able to run the 100m, 200m and 800m. I am anchor of my 4x100 and 4x400 teams. I've also had a lot of success in cross country, having competed at the California State finals every year since my freshman year and finishing in the top 85 runners. I was elected captain of my cross country team for this season. When I'm not running, I enjoy riding my horses and spending time with my many pets. I have always felt a connection with animals and plan to major in biology in college and study to become a large animal vet.
I am grateful for the discipline I've learned from running. It has taught me that though achieving my goals may be difficult, that if I put in the work, I will see results. I am taking honors and IB classes and finding that the more I'm challenged, the better my grades are becoming. I've always been a come from behind runner and see this as a metaphor for my experience in high school. As I approach the finish of high school, I am looking forward to reaching my goals. Then I'll be ready for the next challenge!
