I love to compete. There's nothing more fun for me than to be in a race, challenge myself and see how I rate. That hasn't changed since I ran in my first race in elementary school, and I look forward to the opportunity to be able to compete in college. I also love being part of a team. You don't feel great every day in practice, but having teammates with you to share the experience brings out the best in me. I like the experience of being part of something bigger than myself. At my high school REV, I've been fortunate to compete on teams that have qualified for the postseason every year. I was lucky to learn from good leaders when I was a freshman and sophomore, and I bring that experience with me as a captain of both the cross country and track teams this year as a junior. Running is hard work, but it should be fun. That's my expectation -- to give my best to support my teams so we have the opportunity to go as far as we can together. Outside of running cross country and track, I know that my future is dependent on my education. I'm looking forward to study elementary education in college with the goal of one day being a teacher. I'm lucky because my parents have both worked in education and let me take part in seeing them at their jobs at times, so I know this is what I want to do for a career. My family is so important to me -- my parents, two brothers, Nana and Opa who live just a couple blocks away and my Ohio grandparents who I visit at least once a year and talk to on the phone. They are the anchor that keep me in a good place. I know I have a lot to add to any program, both as a competitor and as a teammate. I look forward to creating my own opportunities as a student-athlete.
