Running is more than a sport for me; it’s a passion. My family is a long line of athletic and active people. Sharing my family’s athletic passion helps me connect to them on a deeper level.
I am also a dedicated scholar-athlete, maintaining a 3.8 average GPA my junior year. I have received Academic Honor Roll for three years along with CST Awards for advanced test scores. My passion for running is only equaled by my insatiable appetite to gain knowledge. School is incredibly interesting to me; I spend much time in depth outside of school. History, Government, Art, and Literature all offer different and interesting experiences.
In my athletic career I have overcome many obstacles. My freshman year, I separated a growth plate in my right hip. I was out the entire year; however, this just fed a fire to not only compete, but to excel. Periodic setbacks are a time to reflect and dig even deeper for success. Just this year I learned that over training without proper body maintenance will also set you back. This fire helped improve my 3 mile time by 5 minutes over the next 2 years. Being part of a close and committed team has helped me appreciate how special individuals are, especially when fighting for a common purpose. We have pushed each other to increasingly higher levels of success.
My desire is to continue my growth as a teammate and scholar-athlete at the collegiate level.
