Personal Statement

I love running. Especially running competitively, as tough as it may be both physically and mentally. I am - either consciously or subconsciously- always seeking the next race. I can never get enough. Yes, races are most definitely tough, but they provide me with a window of time in which nothing else but that race matters. I forget about absolutely everything else that may be happening off the track. My main focus is and always has been and will be on my academics, and racing gives me just what I need in order to get away from all of the stress of trying to maintain good grades. I also find great pride in my academic achievements coupled with my athletic achievements. I have managed to maintain a high GPA, with great grades, on an impacted schedule of the most rigorous courses that my high school offers; all while running well on both the varsity cross country and varsity track and field teams. Trying to balance the the two together, athletics and academics, has been quite a challenge. However, I owe so much to both cross country and track. Being on both teams has really forced me to better manage my time, get my priorities straight, stay focused within school and most of all, learn to open myself up socially- I absolutely love all of the new friendships that I have come to acquire through running over the past few years, as well as having the opportunity to make many more, each and every day; I have found another side of myself which I love. I came to quickly discover that I love making friends, making everyone feel included and being part of a great team, as well as helping others. This self- discovery also led me to begin volunteering at my local hospital, Saddleback Memorial Medical Center, as I am also looking to study a medical profession, specifically in pediatrics. As for a future college, I am looking for a school that will continue to challenge me and push me to reach my full potential both athletically and academically. Thank you for your time and consideration.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
