Deciding to join cross country and distance track and field was by far one of the best decisions that I made going into high school. The two sports have changed my life for the better by opening up new opportunities to help shape my future. Through running, I have learned how to lead a healthy lifestyle, prioritize my time for sports and school, and also to be a leader. I constantly make it my goal to be the best that I can be, to help others, and to be encouraging and a positive influence in my teammates lives.
As a scholar-athlete it is difficult at times to handle my busy schedule of both school and running, however, this challenge only helps me excel in my time management skills and to work hard in training and school simultaneously. Education is a major priority that I hold to myself and by also doing sports, I have discovered more of what my goals are in life. I have looked up to my team captains during my first two years of high school, and now that I am a captain, I look forward to guiding my team in a positive direction as they take part in the amazing running program that my school has to offer.
I am looking for a great college distance running program that will meet my high academic and athletic expectations. Having competed competitively in running for only two years, I believe I have tremendous upside for improvement. My tenacious drive and willingness to get better, faster and stronger would be an asset for any major competitive running program and would allow me to make an immediate impact.
