My name is Taylor Romine and I run cross-country and track & field for El Toro High School in Lake Forest, CA. My first experience with running began back in 2000 when I participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for The Cure at the age of six. I completed my first half marathon in 2010 finishing in 1:45:05 placing 3rd in my age group. I began running cross-country and track & field for the varsity teams in high school my freshman year in 2009. I met many of my goals in both cross-country and track & field last year. Highlights of my cross-country season began with a 1st place finish in the Division I junior race at the Laguna Hills Invitational where I ran an 18:51.27 in the 3-Mile. I ran a personal record of 18:09.00 in the 5000m at the Woodbridge Cross-Country Classic, placing 6th in the Division I varsity race and placing 1st as a team. I ran a personal record of 17:49.50 in the 3-Mile varsity race at the South Coast League Finals, placing 11th. I received the MVP award for my accomplishments and earned Team Captain. I was South Coast All League and Orange County All County both my sophomore and junior year in cross-country and recently made Orange County All County again this season. In track & field last year my personal records are 5:11 for the 1600m, 11:05 for the 3200m, and I placed 2nd at league finals for the 3200M, qualifying me for CIF. I was awarded MVP and Outstanding Distance Runner of the Year. I am currently in my senior year of the cross-country season. I am excited to see what PR's I can attain. My personal best this season was 17:50 in the 5000m at the Woodbridge Cross-Country Classic and we placed first as a team again in the Division I varsity race. My goal for this year is to break 17:30 and make it to state. In track & field I would like to break 5:00 for the 1600m and 10:30 for the 3200m and make it to state. My favorite events are those of the distance category. I am currently looking for a college to attend after I graduate in 2013 where I can excel academically and continue to run cross-country and track & field. I am very excited about this new chapter in my life and look forward to meeting coaches during this process. I am open to many types of schools, big or small, and am willing to move out of state if the school and program are right for me.
