I have always been an athlete; Gymnastics from age 5 – 14 and then Volleyball in 8th Grade. In My Freshman year, I decided to try Pole Vault. The very first time I pole-vaulted, I was hooked. I enjoy the thrill I feel when I get a new Personal Record and I keep working hard to get better.
My very first meet as a freshman, I cleared 9 feet surprising myself, my parents and my coach who immediately put me on the varsity team. From then on, I continued to work hard to get personal records. I work hard during off season and during track season. I go to practice determined to work on what I need to do to improve and get better.
I also work hard in the classroom because I know the importance of education. Although I play sports all year long (Varsity volleyball and club and for Varsity pole vault and Club), I still work hard at school to ensure my grades do not suffer.
I would be a great addition to your college team because of my determination, hard work, and passion for the sport. I could never imagine not being an athlete. I don’t want to stop pole vaulting after high school; I want to continue in college where I can continue to perfect my technique and make a difference to a college track and field team.
