Personal Statement
Hello! I am Melissa Carlay, 17, and I am currently a Senior at New Hyde Park Memorial High School and will be graduating June of 2012. I play both high school tennis and competitive tennis tournaments around the Eastern region. I have been on my high school's Varsity Tennis Team since 7th grade and have played 1st singles since 8th grade. I also have been undefeated so far since 7th grade and I am currently the Assistant Coach & Varsity Captain. Generally pertaining to my college career, I would love to be part of a Division I tennis team with an athletic or academic scholarship or financial aid for a college that has the major of my choice, fashion marketing/fashion merchandising. However, I am very open to playing for a Division I or Division II tennis team for a college that carries any major consisting of Business/Marketing & Advertising. I contributed over 10 years of my life to playing tennis. Playing tennis in college has been something that I have been working for the majority of my life and I can't wait to hopefully experience the high competitve spirit of this sport in my college years.
