Melanie Amato '16 Recruiting Profile

I am a senior at Manchester High School in Connecticut. I was just named team captain of the Girls Varsity Tennis team which competes in the largest class (LL) in the state, in the CCC north. I have been involved in our school's varsity team since freshman year, where freshman year I played #3 doubles, sophomore year I played #1 doubles and #4 singles several times, and my junior year I played #1 and #2 singles. Last December in 2014, I joined Bloomfield Tennis Club's USTA Junior Travel Team, where we made it to Regional's, with a 6-2 record. My current goals for the upcoming USTA season is to maintain and improve a better record, and hopefully make it past Regional's. I also have a goal to improve my record during the school season at #1 singles which will hopefully allow me to play tennis at a competitive college level.  

Academically, my grades have consistently improved since freshman year, because of my motivation to work as hard as possible inside and outside of my classes. My classes as well have only gotten harder as my high school career went along. Since sophomore year I have taken several AP classes, AP World History, AP United States History, AP Literature and Composition and AP Psychology. I will take the SAT in October one more time but as of now my scores are as follows: SAT Math (500), Reading (520), and Writing (540). I also am currently the Editorial Editor for our schools newspaper, the Harbinger. I as well participate in LINK Leadership Crew, Principal Advisory Council, National Honor Society, Student Ambassadors, Interact Club, and was the Secretary (2014-1015) and currently Vice President for Activities Planning Board.
