Personal Statement

From a young age, I would call myself "athletic".  My dad said at 4 years old I could connect with a baseball and hit it out the backyard. In elementary school I excelled at soccer, softball and basketball. In 7th grade I tried volleyball and fell in love. I have played 4 years of club volleyball. A friend asked me to join her at tennis try outs our freshman year. My very first tennis match was in 9th grade; I barely knew how to keep score. I was learning the basics of tennis, but my volleyball skills were translating quickly to the tennis court. My sophomore season my partner and I went undefeated and won The Continental League tournament for JV players. At this point I decided to put in extra off-season effort and make the Varsity team. With private lessons and a JTT season, my first varsity season came with big rewards.  At Varsity #2 Doubles we won The Greeley Invitational Tournament, finished with a 10-2 regular season record including a win against powerhouse Mountain Vista. This past summer my Parker JTT team of 4 went undefeated and won the Colorado State Championships at Pinehurst Country Club on August 7th.

I think my years of competitive volleyball have strengthened my ability to stay calm under stress and fight for every point. My coach says I'm cool under pressure and I am very coachable. I am continuing with off season lessons with plans to make a big splash my senior year.  I am driven to play in college because I love being part of a team, representing my school and I haven't reached my full potential on the tennis court.

In addition to sports, I love fashion, creating music, Comic Con and all things Disney! I am a loyal teammate and pride myself for lifting up those around me.  I hope to earn a degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising or Costume Design. The perfect career would be designing the costumes and music for a Disney World parade.  Thanks so much for reading my unique tennis story.
