I am looking to transfer to a 4 year school for the Fall of 2015.
I was the # 1 Player for for Sierra College in Rocklin, CA, the last 2 seasons. I was ranked as high as # 2 in the Northern California Jr. college singles rankings (only lost 1 match), and was ranked # 1 in doubles, undefeated. This past season 2014, we reached the State Championship title match for the 2nd year in a row and came up short 5-4 to Fullerton.
At The Ojai annual California College State Championships. Our team Sierra college was runner-up for the team state title again. But this year we won the Ojai Team Cup for the first time in School History. We won due to our team winning the most singles and doubles during the tournament. All Singles and Doubles were 128 draw. My partner and I were seeded # 1 in doubles, we reached the Final, but lost in a 3rd set tie-breaker! In singles I was seeded # 3, I had a good run, but lost to the #6 seed, in the RD of 16 in a thrilling 3 set match. I was down 5-2 in the 3rd set, and then got in my zone and took a 6-5 lead, but lost in 3rd set tie-breaker 7-4. It was a 3 hr match.
All in all it was a great tournament for us.
Stephanie Ramos - Tennis Biography
I'm a very late bloomer, and not even close to my potential! I fell in love with tennis after attending the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells in March 2008, 3 months before my 14th birthday. I gave up competitive soccer for the courts!
2009, In July I won my first USTA Open, at Solano, my match scores were, Bye, then 6-1, 6-2, then 6-4, 6-2 vs. the # 1 seed in the Semi-Final, My server was explosive, I think I had about 18 aces in that match! In the Final I was up 4-1 in when my opponent retired.
The rest of 2009 due to family financial problems, I only played 2 tournaments. Coaching also stopped till 2010 due to finances. But I had two of the best coaches not only in California but in the nation, Joe Alves my first coach who taught me the great serve and forehand and the amazing experience with Joseph Gilbert of JMG, who put it all together like no one else can!
I would love to continue playing college tennis at a 4 year school, I know that I can compete at a high level and will be an asset to any team!. I'm a late bloomer, and I know that I haven't reached my full potential, but my recent success at the JC level are starting to show it. I'm a very hard worker, and self motivated. I am a very responsible student and player. I also work part time at a local tennis club, and I'm allowed to use the ball machine and basket of balls. During the season, on top of my normal college practice, I also workout starting around 7pm at the club, with gym workouts for injury prevention and then hit at least 1 basket of serves, and hit 2-3 baskets of balls using the ball machine, I also play practice matches vs the tougher male players of the club. I plan to play several tournaments as well.
My Sierra College team coach Steve Dunmore can attest to how hard I work. He is available for any inquires.
I am staying 1 more year at Sierra College to finish my AA degree, prior to this year's Fall 2014 school semester, I have only attended 3 semesters of JC college. So I would like to finish my core academics and would love to play for a 4 year school starting in the Fall of 2015.
Thank you.
