Since I was 10 years old, my dream has been to swim in college. Without swimming I would not be the person I am today. When I am swimming there are times when I'm able to forget my surroundings and I'm able to simply focus on pushing my body harder. If I am feeling down or stressed, swimming always makes me feel better. I want to continue to compete in college, because that will help me reach my goal of competing in the Olympic Trials in 2020 and 2024. I think college swimming will open many doors for me in my swimming career and beyond.
My parents would describe me as a very hardworking and determined swimmer and student. Like most teenagers, I sometimes become distracted and procrastinate sometimes when it comes to school work. My mother describes me as "what you see is what you get". I don't often find myself caught up in the drama that can be found in large swim teams. I try to consider others feelings and be nice to others. I believe my coaches would describe me as a good spirited person and that I have a good sense of humor, but also that I am a hard worker. My teammates always tell me I lighten up the mood at practice and they enjoy training with me.
As a freshman in high school, I do not know yet what I want in a college in terms of what I want to study, but I know I want a swim team where everyone is close and where everyone supports each other and pushes each other to do well. I want to be part of a successful and strong team led by a coach who will push me to achieve my goals. I want a coach I can talk to and joke around with, but who will give me solid advice and guidance to be my best.
