Swimming is my passion. Many people ask me why I swim, and my answer is always the same. Swimming is FUN! I swim for myself. I love to train and compete, and try to be better today than I was yesterday, in every aspect of my life. Aside from every swimmers obvious goals, mine include swimming in college and being an integral part of an amazing team. I would like to help lead my time to a Conference Championship and qualify for NCAA Championships. My family has been very supportive in my pursuit of this goal. Living in a small town with limited opportunity, we have made the one hour commute each way, daily after school, for me to train. After four years of this commute, and doing homework in the car, we have moved to make the pursuit of my dreams, both athletically and academically, more accessible. I am so thankful for the sacrifice my parents have made, and all of the people who have supported and believed in me.
I am a multi-sport athlete, having been involved in volleyball and basketball both at the school and AAU level. I quit playing basketball when I began commuting to train for swimming, but have continued volleyball. Being a multi-sport athlete has taught me many things. Among those is the fact that I love being part of a team and contributing everything I can to our success. As a freshman, my leadership skills, work ethic, and team focus helped me earn a starting position on my high school JV volleyball team, as well as being voted team captain. This year, I was one of the few sophomores that made the Varsity team. I know that I will learn many things throughout my high school career. I enjoy playing other sports, but my priority and passion is definitely swimming. After placing second in my individual events and earning a third place team finish my freshman year, I am excited for my second high school swim season and the opportunity to pursue an individual and team State Championship.
While I am a sophomore, I know what I want for my future. I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me, athletically as well as academically, with a team and coach that will value my passion for swimming. I would like a good balance between athletics and academics, where I can excel at both, and achieve my personal and our team goals!
