Julia Looper '21 Recruiting Profile

In the five years of competing year round on my club team, I must say my greatest accomplishment was qualifying for Speedo Sectionals in 200 backstroke as a 14 year old in 8th grade and making it back to finals.  As I worked towards this goal I encountered multiple failures where instead of dropping time I added or missed the cut by a few milliseconds. I believe experiencing these challenges made me a better swimmer and person, I realized nothing is guaranteed no matter how much work you put in but that doesn't mean to stop working. 

I plan to continue competing on the Columbia Clippers until the end on my high school career, and hope to continue to improve my abilities as a swimmer. But not only do I succeed in the pool, but also at school where I participate in academic clubs and make honor roll. Due to my positive attitude, mental toughness, and work-ethic I believe I would make a positive impact on your program.
