Coaches,
I am a junior at Berkeley Preparatory School in Tampa Florida. I have been swimming with the Berkeley Varsity team since 6th grade and the Berkeley Barracuda’s club team year round for the past two years. I am a sprint freestyler and I was awarded MVP for the women’s Varsity swim team in 2013 as a sophomore. At the end of this year’s Varsity season I went a 52.72 in the 100 free and 24.33 in the 50 freestyle, placing 9th at the 1A state meet in the 100 free and 13th in the 50 free.
I was given the honor of being named captain for the Varsity team and really enjoyed the position as it helped me grow and develop as a swimmer as well as a person. It was an especially exciting year as I was a part of two school record-breaking relays, the 200 medley and the 200 free relays, and I individually broke the school record in the 100 free (52.72).
As part of my community service during the school year and the summer I help coach the younger kids in the Swim America program. This year I will also be volunteering with the Make a Splash program which gives kids, who would have not had the ability, the chance to learn to swim and is sanctioned by USA Swimming.
Diligence, Integrity and Discipline are the virtues that make up our schools crest and values that have helped me achieve and mature since beginning at Berkeley in Pre-K. Outside of the pool, I have a vigorous course schedule at school including two AP classes and four honors classes. I have been on my school’s honor roll (Headmaster’s List) every year as well. In addition to my swimming, I am also on our school’s Honor Council which is a student governing body that listens to cases of academic dishonesty and recommends consequences to the administration.
I am hard-working and determined both in and out of the pool. Thus, I am looking for a school that has a good balance between academics and swimming as I would like to continue to strive for achievement in both areas. I would like a school with a strong Business undergraduate program as it is my preferred field of study. I have visited schools in the Mid-Atlantic region to the Northeastern region and have found that area to be most desirable but I am open to all other opportunities that would benefit the school and myself.
I really look forward to continuing to challenge myself academically all the while being a part of a supportive team during my college experience.
Thank you for your consideration.
