Personal Statement

When I first started swimming a few years ago, I had no idea I would fall in love with it, but I did. I want to continue my swimming career after high school and swim for as long as I can. I am not athletically superior so I have to work hard for all my gains and that's what I do. Nobody will outwork me. I hate to lose. That applies in the classroom as well as in the pool. I am near the top of my class. I am in the SAIL program at North Bay Haven Career Academy, which is an AP Capstone school. SAIL (Studies in Advanced and Innovative Learning) is their program for students taking AP and/or Dual Enrollment (dually enrolled with Gulf Coast College for college credit) or Honors courses. I am also active in several other organizations at school such as Junior Beta Club, INTERACT,  and HOSA . I made it to state competition in medical terminology in HOSA by winning the region in my first competition. Right now, I plan on majoring in pre-medicine studies in college as my goal is to become an OB/GYN. I have volunteered for two summers now to help teach the Summer Splashes program at my community pool which is a program designed to teach younger kids how to swim and how to swim each of the 4 competition strokes. It is a very rewarding experience to share my love of swimming with the kids and for "Coach Ashlyn" to help teach them how to swim. If you recruit me, I will be a high character, hard working member of your swim team that tries my hardest to be a success both in the pool and in the classroom.
