Personal Statement

It is my goal in college, and in life, to better other peoples’ lives.  Since I was 3 years old I have played soccer, and over the last 14 years, I have realized the importance of putting others before me.  There is no greater feeling than to be able to improve someone else’s life; furthermore, I see myself becoming a Physician Assistant or a career in the medical field.
I am my worst critic, and I am very hard on myself, so when I wasn’t able to score during a game I become upset with my performance.  However, my dad taught me how to be true team player; he taught me that an assist is as good as a goal.  He pushed me to play outside of my comfort zone, and then I realized that being able to effectively play any position on the field makes me much more valuable as a player.  He encourages me to improvise  when I play, and to “play smart”.  Since middle school,  I’ve been a leader in assists every season, All Conference honorable mention as a freshman.  I
I believe that my ability to “play smart” and knowledge of the game makes me even more of an asset.  to read the field, and play smart.
I am a good fit on teams that play out of the air, I am a lefty, and I am dangerous on set plays, and corners. I play smart, I am an outside midfielder that looks for the assist.  I  like to have fun, and on the field I try to keep my teammates  in a relaxed  environment.  I lead by example in many ways, and provide  lighthearted moments in times that we need it most.
Generally speaking, all college bound  soccer players possess skills,, however,  I am the one who will be cheering on the last place runner,  encouraging  players when they feel defeated.  I am a player that teammates  look to for guidance and encouragement on and off the field.  When frustration sets in at times, I am a player that will do everything possible to bring  the team together.
My achievements on the soccer field do not match or even compare to my achievements in the classroom.  I have maintained a 4.15 GPA this past semester while taking AP classes.  I am cut out for hard work, and know how to manage my time, II work 12-15 hours per week cleaning doctors offices. I’m involved in numerous extracurricular and school  activities such as Student Government, National Honor Society, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
I am a student and a teacher of the game, and I want to be a role model the younger soccer players.  I am now an E Licensed Soccer coach, and  finished my 1st season as an assistant coach, my dad and I coached a Club Level Under 12 girls soccer team.   I feel that coaching gives me the opportunity to share my passion of soccer with these ladies; in addition to being a student and a teacher of the beautiful game.
