My name is Sara Cassel and I have played soccer for as long as I can remember. At the age of three, my father coached me in Pee-Wee Soccer and I have been in love with the sport ever since. Through out all of the years and all of the different coaches, I have learned that every time I step out on the field I need to be the best player I can be and try new things. An obstacle I had to overcome was when I tore my ACL in 7th grade and had to sit out for a year. When I was able to come back, I came back a stronger and better player than I was before. In my freshman year of high school I made Varsity starter at Souderton High School. The coaches decided to play me at center midfield, a position I never played before, and realized I was actually good. The more positions I played in, the more I learned, and the better I became. At the end of my season I won Varsity Offense Player of the year & I received Suburban One Honorable Mention. I do indoor training sessions with my club as well as outdoor sessions year round.
Outside of the soccer life, I love to volunteer. In the past I was a volunteer at Pawsabilities, a no-kill cat shelter. About once or twice during the summer I also volunteer at Fairways Golf Club in Warrington Pa. when they have golf fundraiser/benefits. My favorite volunteer work is when I get to help special needs children play soccer. The organization is called TOPSoccer, which allows these children to learn the sport and have fun. I have done TOPSoccer for about five years now. I love to see the big smiles they always have on their faces, it makes my day. I even started to babysit a little boy named Matthew at TOPSoccer. Starting in my freshman year, I also started to volunteer at my school for Special Olympics. As a junior now, I still volunteer with Special Olympics and will do it my senior year as well. I also enjoy going to my brothers lacrosse games and going to the beach. In high school, my main goal is to do well because the years are going by faster than I expected. I want to focus on doing well on my senior project that I have already started in school. I am striving to try and be the best all around person I can be and I am excited to see what the future holds.
