My name is Sydney Keremes and I am a junior in high school! I attend Canon McMillan High School where I play soccer at along with my club team Century United. At Canon McMillan we play in one of, if not, the toughest sections in the WPIAL. We are a triple A school. Canon McMillan plays several teams ranked nationally where we compete against some of Pennsylvania's best soccer players. In 2013 we came in 5th overall. The 2 teams that competed in the WPIAL final were the only 2 teams we had lost to this whole year. This year I was selected for our section's All Conference team. In the Spring I play for a team called Century United. We compete in the Colonial League where we travel to other states to play some of the better teams outside of Pennsylvania. I have been fortunate to work with several college coaches throughout my soccer career to help better myself. I am always looking for extra training to participate in. I go to a strength and conditioning personal training gym 4x a week. I work on building strength, speed, agility, endurance, etc. I have also worked one on one with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds coach. There I worked on foot skills, game tactics, and several techniques to use when striking the ball. I have group trained and one on one trained with my assisant high school coach who is a former D1 soccer player. We worked on small sided tactics, technique, speed and agility, and endurance.
Not only do I put in the work on the athletics side, but I also strive to do my very best in my academics. At Canon McMillan this year I have a 4.46 GPA. I take several honors classes and an AP Class. As of last year, 2012-2013, I was ranked 40th out of 398 students in my class. Last year i had a 4.06 GPA; as I have improved this year, I expect it to go up. I have been involved in several clubs and activities school related. I am one of the sports editors in yearbook club, I participate in ski club, and French Club. I volunteered to help coach a U6 youth soccer rec team. Teaching younger kids soccer is quite a task, but very enjoyable.
In my future years of schooling I would like to study pharmacy as sciences are my main interests in school. I would like to go to a school to get an education that is right for me. Not only am I looking for athletics and education in college, but a school that will fit me best. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile, hope to hear from you soon!
