I've been playing soccer since my preschool years. My parents at the time were exposing me to multiple different sports. Out of all the sports I have participated in, soccer has grabbed me in an emotional and physical way for as long as I can remember. I would long to play soccer whenever I wasn't; for example in gym class if we were playing basketball, volleyball, dodge ball, I would juggle the balls with my feet that were obviously were not meant for soccer. I would always be a stick in the mud with my gym teacher because all I wanted to do was to play soccer.
I have learned a lot about myself over the years while playing soccer. I have learned that I am very competitive and I really like to win and do well during games. I have also learned that winning isn't everything. What matters most is how hard and smart you work; along with contributing your best work to your team no matter what the circumstances are. I always have the mind-set to play every single game, play every single scrimmage or practice any practice like it's my last time playing soccer. This motivates me to do my absolute best while playing to improve myself as a player, teammate and a person.
Yet, over the last year and a half I have been struggling with anxiety. I usually get the most nervous playing one of my instruments in front of other people, presenting in class, or sometimes on the field. I have learned that anxiety isn't a part of me, it's just something I need to overcome and prove wrong whenever I am feeling doubt. Lately I've been doing pretty well with this coping method; learning how to externalize this issue apart from me has been a huge accomplishment.
Outside of soccer I like to hangout with my friends, and do other fun activities. I love to make jokes and make other people laugh. I like to spend time with children, either in volunteer work or babysitting. I also like animals and love to spend time with my three dogs.
