Soccer is more than just a game, it is a huge part of who I am. It has taught me to have patience and discipline as well as focus and determination, all of which are skills applicable to every aspect of my life. The values I have learned from soccer have been the reason to much of my academic success. I aspire to further my career on a collegiate level, I am serious about making a commitment to not just myself, but a team. I enjoy working hard and playing even harder and being a part of something much bigger then myself. In college I hope to play soccer but also major in biomechanical engineering or international business. I want to build better equipment to keep athletes safe so that way they can continue to do what they love worry free, however if they do get injured I want my equipment to help them recover to play as fast as possible. Being an athlete I can see what myself and my other fellow atheletes need in order to keep playing, and I want to make a career out of it. I have participated in the INTEL International Science and Engineering Fair for the past two years, presenting my research on shod vs. barefoot running (recieved second place in the Behavior Category at the fair out of 1,600 projects, Los Angeles 2011) and my research on the sub-concussive impacts from soccer headers (recieved 3rd place in the Behavior Category out of 1,600 projects, Pittsburgh 2012). Soccer is my inspiration and without it I would not be the person I am today.
"I've worked too hard and too long to let anything stand in the way of my goals. I will not let my teammates down and I will not let myself down." - Mia Hamm
