***COMMITTED MANHATTAN COLLEGE***
I am looking forward to playing soccer at the college level. My goal is to play soccer in the Northeast and to also concentrate on my studies, which I find very important. My strength is my ability to read the field well, know my teammates' strengths and play to them, as well as be a team leader. I am always striving to be first to the ball with my headers, and my height helps me with that as well. My leg strength, combined with my ability to find my teammates down the field is also a positive aspect of my playing. I am fortunate to play for a very high level travel team, Alleycat Lynx, and work with coaches who have been extremely successful. Playing with high calibur teammates and traveling to play against high ranked national teams has added to my abilities as well. The Alleycat Lynx are currently ranked 9th in the nation and 1st in NYS at the U17 level. We won the ENY State Cup in June of 2013 and June of 2012 and were a semifinalist in the Region I National Championships Series in Lancaster, PA June 28-July 2, 2012. We are set to compete in regionals again at the end June, 2013.
In 2012, I was fortunate to have my high school varsity team compete in the New York State semifinals, win the NYS Class AA Regional Title, Section II Class AA championship, and the suburban council southern division title. In 2013, my high school team won the overall suburban council title, making that three straight titles, first in the history of the girls soccer program. 2012 was also the first time Guilderland won a sectional and regional championship. I was named to the 2013 New York All state team, as well as the suburban council first all star team. I truly enjoy the comraderie of my team, and believe that how a team handles themselves off of the field can greatly effect the overall on-field experience as well. I find academics extremely important and want to go to a college to concentrate on Communications and Business. I also enjoy helping out in the community and being with my family. Sports are very important to me and my family, as both my mother and father played college-level sports, and many family members played college and/or professional sports as well.
Spring 2012 - Letter of Recommendation from Brian Bold, Alleycats Coach Emily Center has been a four year starter for our Alleycat Lynx soccer team and has played at a high level for all four of her seasons. On the field she is steady and composed which makes for an absolute brilliant centerback. Emily plays all eighty minutes of each match and is rarely substituted. That stat is very impressive because she played through pain and exhaustion, but she would never have had it any other way. During Emily's four seasons she has created an impressive list of accomplishments: 2012 State Cup Eastern NY Champions; Semifinalist Region I Championship Series Lancaster, PA, July 2012, 2012 Semifinalist Region 1 Premier Northeast League, Championships: 2011 Region 1 NERP League 2009 Eastern New York Premier League 2010 Scorpion Bowl 2009 Needham Invitational Finalist 2010 Region 1 NERP League 2011 Baltimore College Invitational 2010 National Elite Women's Soccer Showcase Semifinalist 2010 PDA Invitational 2011 MPS College Showcase 2010 Eastern New York State Cup 2009 Scorpion Bowl. Off the field she is a class act, a mature young lady and someone who will always be successful, while always wearing a smile. Emily is an asset to our team and to any other program that should be fortunate to have her as a student-athlete. If you should have any future questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely, Brian Bold Alleycat Lynx Coach [email protected] 518-928-6392
October 2012 Letter of Recommendation from Guilderland High School Coach, Curtis Snyder Emily has played two years for me on the Varsity soccer team at Guilderland High School. She is a two year starter, and will be a three year starter next year. Emily was a solid marking defender for us last year and her steady, smart play was a major reason that we became league champions for the first time in over a decade. Her role this year has changed, as has her position. This year she has been a stalwart center back who leads our defensive unit by both words and actions. Her ability to read the play and adjust the defense is an incredible asset. She has great vision and rarely loses a head ball. For a defender she has surprisingly strong 1 v 1 moves. All of these characteristics of Emily’s have once again helped our team stay atop the League this year. I am confident that Emily has the ability to play soccer in college at a high level. Not only does she have the technical and tactical knowledge needed, but she also has the ability to make others around her better players. She is very inquisitive about the game and is always trying to better herself, which makes her very easy to coach. I have been lucky enough to know Emily off the field as well. She has an upbeat personality and always seems to be in a good mood. I know she will succeed at anything she puts her mind to, including academics and soccer.
