Personal Statement

**Dear Coaches,

I have verbally committed to play for Jackson College at the juco level.  Thank you for your interest.  I will update my stats when I play for JC, and maybe we can touch base in a couple of years when I am ready to transfer!

**Katie

Ever since I fell in love with soccer when I was 4, I have wanted to get better, and I have continued to move up through the ladder of competitive levels.   This year, I petitioned to play up in age group with my Rush club so I could test myself against older and better players.  My petition was granted, and I was able to compete against top seniors (and some college players in scrimmages).  The pace of play and level of aggressiveness definitely challenged me, but I gradually learned what I needed to do to compete at that level, and I finished the last third of the season very strongly.

I try to be a good teammate and to be coachable.  I love trying to set my teammates up for a goal.  I am not into drinking or drugs.  I'm looking for good team camaraderie (like a family) with minimal drama.  I'm more of a "lead by example" person than a vocal leader (I'm a little on the shy side), so you would see me pushing my teammates by competing hard against them, but you might not hear me a whole lot.  I'm working on that.  I was a captain this season and that was definitely a learning process.

Besides soccer, I also play basketball (starting point guard since freshman year) and I work part-time.   My grades are important, and because I want to be a dentist, the college I attend has to have a strong science department.  If you think I'd be a good fit for your program, I'd love to hear from you!
