Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Ayelet Haar. I am 5'9" keeper from Piedmont, California. However I have played multiple positions which include forward, midfielder, and defender both left and right. My primary and best position is as keeper, and I am seeking to play keeper in college. It has long been my dream to play soccer in college, and continue to refine and develop my skills. I would also like a team where I could get make a contribution early in my career and make an immediate impact on the team. I remain open to all divisions. Geographically I am open, but lean towards schools in the Western part of the United States. For the 2009-2010 soccer season I was selected to play as a 15 year old on the U19 California Northstars, which is a nationally ranked 3rd in the United States for U19 women. On May 2, 2010 we won the California U19 California State Cup and on July 27, 2010 we won the Western Regional Championship in Albuquerque, New Mexico We played for the National U19 Championship in Kansas City and finished third. We are nationally ranked third for U19 women. On the Northstars I play forward, and outside defender and GK. My coach is Paul McCallion, who also is the mens' and womens' coach at Notre Dame College and was named 2010 womens' soccer Coach of the Year for the California East Bay area. During the last 2 seasons I have played keeper at Piedmont High School. There I have maintained a 3.0 GPA. I have not completely decided, but think I would like to pursue criminal justice, or finance, as I have found these subjects to be of interest. I have an ADA non-specific learning disability and am seeking an environment in which I could get personal attention and support, with the right balance between the classroom and the field. Since Northstars will be disolving after the Nationals this year, I have recently been selected to be the starting keeper with the Bay Oaks Blasters '92 coached by Katie Pittman of the Bay Oaks Soccer Club. She was an all PAC 10 goalie at UC Berkeley and she and her assistant goal keeper coach should help me improve as keeper. This is a U-18 team, and I will begin training after my state cup commitment with the NorthStars. I have played for many years prior to joining the Northstars with the Bay Oaks Bombers, which is the Bay Oaks' U17 team which is my correct age bracket. I played keeper for the Bombers at the U10, U11, U12 and U14 age groups and also played stopper. I moved to the California Northstars because I felt the Bombers were a weaker team and I needed a challenge. Some of my accomplishments are I have played ODP Region 4 in 2004. I was MVP for Piedmont High in the NCS game of 2008. Additional stats are that I weight 150-155, and can run a 120 in 13 seconds or less. I bring hard work, commitment and leadership skills to the game. I have a very good understanding of the game and how it should be played. I strive for excellence and to win all games. I work hard on and off the field. I am a team player, and try to support my team mates, while stepping up to the plate when needed to make an impact on the game. I am looking forward to a great college career in soccer.
