From the moment I first stepped on the field when I was six years old, I knew soccer would be an important part of my life. Soccer has created valuable experiences I feel I wouldn't have had otherwise. Through this sport, I have established principles that will help me be successful in life, on and off the field. I have learned the importance of adapting to new situations, the value of relationsips, and the importance of hard work and dedication.
Soccer and atheletics have helped create and define key experiences in my life. When I moved to Singapore for a year in 2010, I seized the opportunity. During the year we were overseas I played for the Singapore American School Varsity soccer team, traveled all over Southeast Asia and competed in Varsity Track & Field, a new sport for me at the time. I met and competed with many new people from all over the world and learned to respect and appreciate other cultures. The highlights of this journey included playing soccer with kids I met at an orphanage in Cambodia while on a service trip and competing in an international tournament in Jakarta, Indonesia. Without atheletics, I likely would not have had these opportunities.
Upon moving back from Singapore in early 2011, I joined the San Ramon Azuri after establishing relationships with the team and coach and working hard for my spot. The Azuri compete at a very high level and being a part of this team has given me the exposure and opportunity to prepare me for college soccer.
Soccer has shaped my life in so many different ways and has contributed to the person I am today. I cannot wait to see where it will take me next.
