My name is Julia Hefferon. I am 17 years old and currently attend Ridgewood High School in Ridgewood, New Jersey. I row for the Ridgewood High School crew team during the Spring season and for Nereid Boat Club for the fall and summer seasons, both under the guidance of Coach Boris Roque Alvarez. Throughout my rowing career I have sculled and swept, and competed successfully in both. During the winter off-season I weight train with both a personal trainer and on my own, as well as weekly erg training with Coach Alvarez. I am 5'9" and weigh 130lbs. I take my academics very seriously as well. I currently take several honors and AP classes and I am enrolled in an accelerated American Studies program to which I had to apply and be accepted. I am scheduled to take the ACT's in June 2014, and the SATs in October 2014, and continue to work very hard to achieve high scores.
I would like to attend a College or University where I can both challenge myself academically and in the sport of rowing. I feel I would be a strong asset to any school's academic or athletic program because of my hard work and dedication. Rowing is a major aspect of my life and it has taught me the importance of commitment, and has helped me grow as a person and as an athlete. Over the past three years I have put forth my very best efforts into every aspect of practice and racing, and have seen dramatic improvements in my results, which I hope to continue throughout my high school and college years. I am very hard working and rarely miss an opportunity to improve my abilities.
I believe in giving my very best in everything I do and look forward to contributing my efforts at the college level. I appreciate your interest in me and hope that you see me as a future member of your team.
