I have been playing lacrosse for the past five years, and the entire reason I ever started was that I wanted to be with my friends. Being on a team teaches you trust and forgiveness. I grew up on a team whose record was 0-25 every season, yet I kept playing every year. The reason we lost every game was that we did not trust each other or forgive each other for our mistakes. Then, my freshman year of high school I made the varsity team. These athletes were an entirely different crowd. They were accepting, understandable, forgiving, and encouraging. This team showed me what a real team should feel like. On the field, we used each other and played hard, and off the field, we were all a big group of friends.
Now on the field, I am a quick thinker and go with my instinct. Many players cannot work well under pressure, but that is something I am great at doing. When I am under pressure, I focus hard on what needs to be executed. I make sure that I follow through on my pass, or to catch that ball with a soft give. Having focus is one of my greatest strengths. I am an excellent candidate for the team because I am always optimistic, encouraging, and always see the most significant skills of others around me.
