Haylie Sims '20 Recruiting Profile

During August 2013, I attended a summer clinic at Pershing Middle School where I was introduced to the great game of lacrosse. The courageous decision to try something new that was outside of my comfort zone changed the course of my life. I am grateful for the opportunity to be active in a sport I love, bound to teammates on and off the field while I continue to develop as a person and a student athlete.

I began my lacrosse journey as a defender. However, mid-season of my first year, the coach decided to “throw” me into the cage because she felt I had a deep understanding of the game. Needless to say I was terrified, but nevertheless I persevered and had a great start to my career as a lacrosse goalie.  This challenging experience taught me that I am capable of meeting and even exceeding the goals set by myself and others. It also taught me that grit, the power of perseverance and passion to meet goals, is the key to my success in all facets of life.

I intend to play the great game of lacrosse all throughout my high school career. My goal is to develop into a world-class athlete while maintaining academic excellence, so that I will have the opportunity to showcase my talent at the collegiate level.
