Personal Statement

I was in fifth grade when I started playing lacrosse. Lacrosse is a huge program at KCD and they recruit girls to play as young as 4th or 5th grade. My first year alone we went undefeated and won our championship. That year I was given the award "The Wall" because I never let the ball get past me.

I've been very fortunate to have great coaches throughout my life. KCD is a 3-time back to back state championship winning program, and under the guidance of my wonderful coaches I have improved so much. They've taught me amazing skills, determination, and so much more. But it wasn't until transferring to Assumption that I learned what it meant to be a leader.

I transferred to Assumption my sophomore year, the same year that Assumption's JV lacrosse coach became the head of the program. Sam is an incredible coach, but it is very hard for one person to manage a group of 60 girls of varying skill levels by herself. Many of the girls had never played lacrosse before, which shocked me. I was used to the top program in the state, where girls had played since 5th grade. Although it was a little frustrating at first, it really taught me how to be a leader. Many of the girls would look to me for guidance, or ask questions about things they were doing wrong. It was an extremely gratifying experience, and taught me a lot about myself.

Although athletics are very important to me, so are academics. I pride myself on being a good student, and being able to keep up with sports and academics. I currently am taking all advanced, AP, and Dual Credit level classes as a sophomore, and I am also  participating in the McAuley scholar program. This program is for students that take all advanced or higher classes, achieve a 3.5 or higher GPA, and take a minimum of 4 APs in their high school career.

My twin and I are the youngest of six kids. My parents are very knowledgeable about the college process, having already gone through it three times with my older siblings. But my sister and I are their first interested in playing sports in college. I love lacrosse and am very excited to play in college!
