Hi, I’m Anne Carmean and I am a freshman at Spring Lake Park High School in Minnesota. I currently live in Blaine, MN with my sister, mother, and father. My older sister attends the University of North Dakota and is a member of the woman’s swimming and diving team which was eliminated by the university this spring. Both my mother and father graduated from the University of North Dakota and currently work in the business world. My dad was the member of the golf team at the University of North Dakota.
I attended Calvin Christian School, a small private school, for grades K-8 prior to moving on to Spring Lake Park High School. My focus is on being a very committed student who has very high standards and goals. I’m very interested in the areas of math and science, but also enjoy working with people. My future as of now may be in the areas of pre-med or education. Currently, my cumulative GPA is 3.86 and I’m taking all honors and AP classes. Overall, I am committed to being successful in the classroom.
The moment I stepped on the ice at the age of 6, I fell in love with hockey. My cousins were the reason I wanted to start playing hockey because they played. Over the years I have become more dedicated to hockey. I play year round with many different teams. I always have a smile on my face when I’m on the ice and enjoy the competition of the game. I will take any opportunity just to practice or even play in any tournaments. I work hard to be my very best. I feel I’m a very driven and hardworking individual who strives all the time to be the best on the ice. I continue to have a passion for the game and love every minute of it. My long term goal in hockey is to play in college.
Throughout my hockey career I’ve played association hockey in the winters and AAA hockey in the spring/summer. As a freshman in high school I played varsity hockey at Spring Lake Park High School. We had a pretty good season, and I improved a lot on my patience, poise and confidence. This summer I’m playing for Terry Hughes and his Skate to Excellence U19 White team. In addition, I train in Minnesota Advancement Program (MAP) and participate with them in some of their tournaments. Also, during this summer I will be participating in Os Hockey Prospects Camp.
Besides hockey, I play on the varsity golf team at Spring Lake Park HS. I really enjoy the mental game of golf, and its independence. I am able to keep myself accountable and continue to build my character. I like being active and busy at all times. I have also always had a passion for learning. I push myself to get good grades and to enjoy learning. I am an A honor roll student. School is my top priority because I want to be successful in the future. My goal is to keep getting good grades and get an athletic/academic scholarship. Also, I am involved in my church and volunteer. I am a strong follower of Christ of which is very important to me. I enjoy hanging out with friends and being social. I am a very positive person and I have a huge passion for helping others in need
My love of the game, determination and heart is what sets me apart from the other players. In terms of skill/strengths, I have great hockey sense/IQ, puck moving ability, offensive/defensive defenseman ability, and a team player. But few can match how passionate I am for the game of hockey. I bring great leadership, positive attitude, and energy to every team. By always seeing the opportunity for improvement, I am able to recognize ways to improve my skills at every single practice. These opportunities have directly led to my strength and performance on and off the ice.
I am so excited to move forward in pursuing a future in college hockey!
