Ellen Cook '20 Recruiting Profile

I have aspired to play college hockey since I was about twelve and my desire to become a collegiate level player was self-initiated. In order to achieve this goal, last season, I had moved up significantly in levels by moving up from a recreational team, to a much more serious club team. I made The Jr. Falcons Tier I team and suddenly I felt behind. I was not accustomed to playing at such a competitive level and it really took hard work and a true passion for hockey to tell myself that I was going to believe and work hard enough to become the best player I could be. It wasn't about becoming accustomed to the level, but rather about becoming one of the best within that level. Since it was so different than what I had been playing, I really had my work cut out for me.  I realized I had to focus on my individual skill set and in-game effectiveness.  I consider, some of my greatest accomplishments as making The Falcons Tier 1 AAA team which was ranked 15th in the country, making The Northern Lights top AA U16 team (which 94 girls tried out for), and being selected to play with Roc City Elite 2 years in a row. 

My favorite subjects in school are biology and English. I am very interested in studying genetics. I also love to write which I do very well.
