Personal Statement

My name is Gabriela McNelly. My love for the game of golf started at the age of 11 when I started playing in the Southern Texas PGA Tournaments. I am on the varsity golf team for Medina Valley High School along with the varsity cross country and track teams.  Running keeps me very conditioned and when you play multiple rounds of golf in the Texas heat, being in good physical shape is a big advantage.  Being a multi-sport athlete I have chosen the game of golf as my primary sport.  I enjoy being a part of a team but also enjoy having the individual responsibility for my own score or event.

My main goal is to attend a university where I can earn my degree and play on a NCAA championship golf team. Ending my freshman year in high school I have a 3.81 GPA while taking all honors courses.  I’ve spent this summer (2017) playing in golf tournaments for the Southern Texas PGA Prestige Tour and the Texas Junior Golf Tour to prepare me for collegiate golf tournaments. This summer I’ve also enjoyed being a caddie for my little brother’s golf tournaments.  I believe my work ethic in school and golf would make me a great asset to any team.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
