Lauren Wiedebush '20 Recruiting Profile

I started golf when I was old enough to swing a golf club. My dad was the one who taught me how to golf. I have been in golf lessons since I was 3. I have done the First Tee Program in Watertown, South Dakota and Aberdeen, South Dakota. I have been on the Varsity Golf and Junior Varsity team in Arlington, South Dakota my sixth and seventh-grade year. Also in Clark, South Dakota Varsity, and Junior Varsity golf team my eighth-grade year and my freshman year. On both those teams, I was playing in Junior High tournaments. My seventh-grade year I won the DeSmet Junior High Invitational with a score of 53 on DeSmet's nine-hole course. My eighth-grade year I placed in the LRC conference meet and got third place in Junior Varsity with an 85 in Lake Poinsett, South Dakota, Pre Regions with a 98 which got me 10th. In Regions I was under the 15th place by 2 strokes, I didn't make the cut. My golf game has gotten better. I will admit my long game is better than my short game. I am willing to work and learn. Golf is the game I love and the game I know inside and out. Golf also helps me connect with my family and most importantly my dad who had died when I was nine. My golf success credits go to him. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be in love with this sport and I for sure wouldn't have put in so much time and dedication. When I practice I like to be on the driving range most of the time getting the perfect swing down. After being on the driving range for an hour and a half, I go start on the golf course at hole one and go to nine holes if the weather isn't very good or I play eighteen holes when the weather is just right. Living in South Dakota the weather decides when you golf.
