Joselyn Brown '16 Recruiting Profile

Hi.  My name is Josie.  I am a junior at Hilliard Davison HS in Hilliard, Ohio.  Hilliard is a suburb of Columbus.  I started playing golf the summer before my Sophomore year!  I made my varsity team that year and was the number three golfer.  During the spring and summer of 2014 I played in tournaments organized by Mike Crotty with the Greater Central Ohio Junior Golf Association.  Mike Crotty is a PGA  professional Hall of Famer.  He is also my private swing coach.

For my Junior year I am again on the Varsity team and the number two golfer this year. I consider myself a late bloomer in the game of golf.  I currently have been golfing a consistent 86-91.  I am a member of Hickory Hills Golf Course.

I am an honor roll student with goals of attending becoming a physical therapist or a physician assistant.  I am currently taking classes at Davidson geared towards both of those majors.  I am enrolled in our sports medicine program and plan to take Anatomy and physiology as my science my senior year.  This should help me as I try to decide my future plans.

For my senior capstone project I plan on offering the "Get a Kid Hooked on Golf" program to the younger girls in my community.  We have three high schools in Hilliard.  My high school had twenty nine ladies come out for golf tryouts.  The other two had enough to barely field a team.  My goal is to introduce a one week clinic during the summer of 2015 and then grow the program every year.  No matter how far I take my golf career I plan on giving back to my community of Hilliard.  I look at this project as building a legacy that I and my parents can be proud of.

My strengths on the course are my chipping and my poker face.  I show minimal emotion when playing.  Every tee box is a new beginning.
