Personal Statement

I began playing competitive golf when I was in 2nd grade on the US Kid's Golf Tour.  After two years I moved on to the Meijer/Adams Jr. Tour for a year.  I spent the next three years playing soccer with one of the local travel teams.  It was prior to my Freshman year that I decided that golf was the sport that I loved the most and wanted to play competitively.

I just completed my 3rd year now playing on the Varsity golf team.  I have gone from being the #3 player as a Freshman to now being the leader of our team as a Junior.  All three of these years I have played with my team in the Div. 1 State Finals.  I finished 15th overall and earned State Honorable Mention for the second year in a row.  I am looking forward to leading our team back there again my Senior year to cap off my High School career by winning the title.

My focus while playing is mostly the shot on hand and making sure I manage the course properly.  I try to maintain a positive attitude during my round and to never give up until I hole out on #18.  My coach has me keep a cut ball in my bag to remind me to keep smiling no matter what.  I try to maintain my game and fitness in the off season with weight lifting and hitting balls in either a golf dome or on a golf simulator.  My profile and stats should give you more information on my playing potential and skills.

My academic goals are my first priority.  I have maintained and continually strive for straight "A's" in every course I take.  I realize that my education and success in the classroom will have the largest impact on my life once I finish.  While it is still early for me to decide right now on a major, I am most interested in the science, technology, engineering and math fields.  I also have an interest in teaching as well.  As I get closer to graduating from HS, making that decision will become a larger priority as it will also effect which school I ultimately choose to attend.
