Hello, my name is Lindsay Dodovich. I am currently enrolled as a junior at Trinity High School in River Forest, IL. I have played on Trinity’s Varsity Golf Team since my freshman year, and I have served as the Captain since my sophomore year. I was also named MVP three times. My first competitive golf experience was with the Trinity golf team in my first high school match as a freshman—that same year I went on to be named All-Conference. I have had a love for the game ever since I played in my first competitive golf tournament. In my sophomore year, I medaled in 9 out of 11 matches, I was named All-Conference again, and I qualified for the IHSA Sectional Qualifier. In my junior year, I medaled in 9 out of 11 matches, was again named All-Conference, placed second in the IHSA regional tournament with a score of 79, qualified for the IHSA Sectional Qualifier, and missed going downstate by just a handful of strokes. In my senior year, I medaled in 8 out of 10 matches, placed 4th in the conference meet (82), was again named All-Conference, won the Cog Hill Invitational (79), led the team to the IHSA Sectionals for the first time ever, advanced to the IHSA State Championship as an individual, and placed in the top half of the field at the State Championship (81-86). At the last regular season match of my senior season, I set a Trinity record by shooting a bogey-free score of 34 (-1) at Indian Boundary. Throughout my high school golf career, I have either broken or set every Trinity golf record, and I helped lead the team to a record setting season my senior year by accumulating a record of 9-1 and by advancing to the IHSA Sectionals as a team for the first time ever in Trinity history. Throughout the off-season, I maintain my skills by working out at the indoor golf dome and doing core training. I played in many tournaments this summer in order to gain more competitive experience. The highlight of my 2012 summer season was when I finished second place in an IJGA event with a score of 81, missing first place by just one stroke. In spring of 2013, I played in the DuPage Junior County Classic at Oak Meadows and shot 82-79 to finish T13 out of 60 players in a strong field. I finished the 2013 summer season strong by winning the IJGA Open at Broken Arrow Golf Club by a wide margin of 5 strokes with a score of 77. I was invited to play in the IJGA Player of the Year Championship, and I finished 10th in the IJGA Player of the Year standings. I am a goal-oriented person. I usually reach my goals through hard work, dedication, and perseverance. I feel that these assets are extremely important in any sport, especially golf. Golf is a humbling sport that truly teaches us that we are only as good as our last score. One of the reasons that I love the game of golf so much is that there is always a new challenge. Perfection seems to be unattainable in this sport because there is always some aspect of the game that could be better—even if it might be good already. I enjoy this unattainable quest for perfection because it pushes me to always work my hardest and to never give up because when you do succeed in this game, it is the greatest feeling ever. This lends itself to my ultimate goal—playing college golf. In addition to playing college golf, I hope to graduate from college with high honors, and ultimately earn a degree in either medicine or law. Golf is a sport that requires great amounts of both physical and mental training, and I am dedicated to improving myself as a player through working my hardest. I would like to thank you for visiting my profile, and I look forward to speaking with you very soon.
